What's the story you're going to tell tomorrow? Is it that it really hurt and you dropped out, or is it that you hung in there and got that medal?

The further the distance, the more the mental game comes into play.

There are a number of factors that contribute to mental toughness. However, at the core, there are two key features: willingness (ability to endure) and optimism (positive belief about the future outcome).

I love the story mantra, but I also think about my reason whyโ€ฆ

Why do we do these hard things, what's my reason why? I do it for me. I love the adventure, I race in beautiful places, I love exploring, I love testing myselfโ€ฆ how far can I really go.

But I also do it for others. Having a solid reason why will help solidify that never-give-up attitude. I do it to show my boys that anything is possible, about how strong you can be in all aspects of life and how you handle hard things.

Finally, I do it to be the best coach I can, explore all distances and inspire and put confidence in my athletes and followers.

Work on creating that mental resilience, that mental strength, this is something that you can do all day long.

Visualize that finish line, share your goals, really get solid with that reason why.

Have you got any techniques to keep the head in check?
