Meet James
I absolutely love what I do and my mission is to help you have the race of a lifetime. Having a coach by your side can ensure that happens.
I’m a father of two incredible boys and husband to my beautiful wife India. I know what it’s like to train for big races and balance family and work life!
I spent the start of my working life in the Royal Navy as an engineer and later on the RN Boxing squad where I found my love of health and fitness. From there in 2012 I went into the fitness industry.
Day to Day I work in our small group personal training studio and the Bay Run coaching lab.
I’ve been working with all levels of runners, from brand new runners to those breaking 3 hours in the marathon, to multistage ultramarathons in the Sahara, to 215-mile single-stage races across countries.
I’ve completed races of all distances from 5k and beyond, including marathons, 50 and 100 mile mountain ultras and an Ironman to tick it off the list. Most recently I completed the Marathon Des Sables, a race in the Sahara desert, dubbed the toughest foot race on earth and it was tough… 47-degree heat, endless dunes, carrying 13kg of kit and self-sufficient, minus the water, for 7 days, covering 250kms with the longest day being a 90km stage.
Next for me is Ironman Leeds a 2.4 mile swim into a 112 mile hilly bike straight into a 26.2 mile run then onto the Autaum 100 centurian 100 mile trail running race.
I also work remotely and in person via my online coaching platform.
Bay Run Coaching has a fully equipped private training facility, including state of the art 3d Gait Analysis, VO2 max testing, blood lactate testing, sports massage and biomechanics coaching.
